Variations to Body Weight Exercises
Body weight exercises can be a great way get in shape and achieve quick weight loss or even build some muscle. They are great in a pinch, while traveling, or if you are really unlucky and stuck in a jail cell.
The problem with body weight exercises is that it is easy to get stuck in a rut of doing the same thing all of the time. And if you have been keeping up on your knowledge you will know that variation is the name of the game and the only way to really achieve a maximum level of fitness.
So, it is important that you change your workout on a regular basis. This can be something as simple as changing the order in which you do your exercises so that you are increasing fatigue at a different time.
The Push Up
This is a great full body exercise and to maximize the benefit it is best to change your hand position and incline on a regular basis. You can move your hands anywhere from right next to each other to a couple of inches outside your shoulder width and the workout will be entirely different for your whole body. If you get really good you can even do one armed variations and change your body position while doing these push ups. Don’t hesitate to move to your knees to decrease resistance or lift a leg to increase resistance while doing push ups
Pulls Ups
Like push ups a great full body workout and very difficult, pull ups are a true gauge of physical fitness. Changing your hand width will once again give you a significantly different workout. Going from an overhand to an underhand grip will completely change the exercise and alternating between the two will give you far superior results as opposed to doing one or the other. Pull ups are hard and if you need to start with the assistance of a chair for support don’t hesitate to do so. Do what it takes and do what you are capable of doing.
Core Exercises
Body weight core exercises are to numerous to cover here, so I will say this. Do something besides crunches. You can find a new core exercise to do everyday for months. Commit to doing something new on a regular basis and never stop learning.
You don’t need weights to achieve quick weight loss or even muscle gain all you need is some determination and variation.
