How To Buy Shares of Good Stocks

There are many measurements you can use before you buy shares that makes what many would refer to as a good stock to buy. There are principals of high growth investing, as well as undervalued investing. Valued investing and growth investing can look at various indicators that a stock is either going to grow and appreciate in value, or that a stock is trading under what value investors believe it should be valued at.

Although there are many ways to learn how to buy shares of good stocks, one of them is determining value based on the assets of the company. Every year, and sometimes every quarter, a company must return it’s financial information in and report it’s assets, it’s liabilities, it’s income, and it’s cashflow, as well as it’s earnings, dividends, and other information.

Through use of this information you can determine when people are most likely too pessamistic about a stock. You simply can measure the price of a stock, multiplied by the shares outstanding to figure out the “market cap” this is a figure that the investors are accumulatively willing to pay. You then will want to compare this market cap to the assets minus the liabilities, this is one measurement of what a company is worth.

If you take the net tangible assets divided by the market cap, you will give yourself a number. If you multiply this by the price of the stock, you get yourself an estimate of what a stock is worth based on it’s assets alone. The idea is that if you find a stock priced below it’s assets at a deep enough discount, even if the earnings turn negative, the cashflow declines, and things get worse, the company can still sell it’s assets and sell the company out and make a profit for themselves and the share holders.

If you find stocks priced below it’s net tangible assets, those are generally very good stocks to buy in terms of value.
