Black Mold Removal Is Serious

If you have black mold in your home, you need to get black mold removal fast. Black mold is very toxic. It can cause a variety of symptoms and illnesses. It can even lead to death in infants.

Black mold tends to grow in high humidity areas. But if you are in an area that is generally low in humidity that experiences flooding, you can be at risk as well. Take a good look at any water stains in your home. Normally they are yellowish. If they are darker, you may have a problem.

You can remove black mold on your own, but you need to take great care in doing so. It is very easy for the mold spores to become airborne as you are cleaning. This can spread them to elsewhere in the house and make you very ill should you breathe them in.

Before you attempt cleaning, you should make sure anyone who is not helping is evacuated. You need to protect yourself with a mask to cover nose and mouth, rubber gloves and eye protection. Anyone who remains to help you needs to be protected in the same manner.

Of course, any standing water needs to be removed and a dehumidifier should be used as well. You may want to continue using one of these even after the mold is gone. When you go to clean the mold, it is helpful to spray it down with some water if the area is now dry. This helps to keep the spores from getting in the air.

As far as cleaning solutions, it is best to invest in cleaner specifically for black mold. Bleach is helpful but will not necessarily get to the root of the problem. It is critical that you kill all of the mold or it will just grow back. Everything that you use to clean must be disposed of properly.

To truly be safe and sure that all the mold has been removed, it is probably best to call in an expert in black mold removal. The health of you, your family and your pets is at stake. This is not a situation that you want to take lightly.
