(2)Their experience with the particular problem you are having
(3)If they have any car repair specialties (engines, radiators, tires, etc.)
(4)If they hold any special auto degrees or certifications
(5)If they guarantee their work in writing, regardless of the type of work (you will want to make sure they do this)
(6)How they calculate their charge; there can be a big difference between a charge for time spent and a flat fee.
The point is that you cannot tell a good mechanic just by looking. It takes a lot of work and a little bit of luck to find an outstanding mechanic that will not charge an arm and a leg. Just remember that when you do though, you will be happy that you spent the time searching. A great mechanic, with fair pricing, can make your life a lot easier and your wallet stay a little thicker. Above all else, remember that common sense is the rule for most auto body repairs.
