Make Your Own Wedding Centerpieces

Many brides are opting to save money on their wedding centerpieces by making them at home themselves. Not only does this save quite a few dollars, it also ensures your centerpieces are unique and radiate the personal touch. It can also be fun to get creative with your friends and family if you can rope them into helping.

The wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses are probably going to be out of your hands when it comes to making them, but if you can help make the wedding venue look extravagant then you will have helped set the scene for a perfect day.  Wedding decorations, especially centerpieces, need not be off the shelf items. Homemade displays will be cheaper and more inspired than standard shop bought ones. The table centerpieces should be the focal point of the wedding reception so need to be beautiful and creative. If you have an artistic streak then this will be easy for you, otherwise look online at the many wedding images available for inspiration.

When you start to think about your table displays, you need to decide on your budget, consider your overall wedding theme and work out whether you want to create a formal or a casual setting. Fresh flowers make traditional centerpieces but can be expensive and are not ideal for do it yourself brides as they are really a last minute creation. If you want a floral arrangement stick with silk flowers or potted plants. You could use a few fresh flowers to accent other displays such as photo collages or candle arrangements but ensure you find a friend to add this finishing touch on the day as you will be too busy.

As the name centerpiece intimates, your table display should attract a lot of interest. It should be elegant and attention grabbing. Candles of different heights, in various tones that match with your color scheme increase the romantic undertones of the day. Floating candles are another stylish touch when combined with unusual shaped glass bowls and a scattering of fresh flower heads.

If you want something sparkly and glitzy, choose something made of glass, glass beads or glass stones. These work well with candles or perhaps tree branches spray painted in silver or antique candelabras.

For a more modern idea, consider some edible items to create your wedding centerpiece. Cupcakes or individual pastries could be piled high on tiered cake stands. Chocolates or sweets, like jelly babies, could be displayed in attractive glass vases. Fruit is even used quite often these days, either sliced in water or whole, piled delicately on a white platter.

Hopefully these do it yourself wedding centerpieces ideas have given you some inspiration. Have a practice long before the big day to see if you can come up with something unique and enjoy the fact that you will start married life with a few more dollars in your pocket after all your hard work.
