How To Build A Kitchen Table
There are many kind of kitchen tables, as varied in prices as they are in style, colors and forms. You can buy a large table if you have a lot of space, or a kitchen bistro table if your space is limited, but it is also possible that you do not find the perfect table to suit you. In that case you can make your own table, for very little expense and you will be sure to have one that will fit your needs.
This is how you can make your own kitchen table.
Cut 4 legs of 35 inches each. For the size of the table choose the one that is best for your space. Alternatively you could buy a pedestal bistro table foot. They are already made, easy to install and you can choose from a wide variety of style.
Buy a wood piece in a building store. Have the store cut to size for you. It should be on the average 36 X 36 inches, and it should be at the very least 3/4 inch thick. The advantage realized by having it cut in the store is that you can get whatever shape you want, square, round, oval, rectangular…
Then you will have to sand the wood until you have a very smooth surface.
With steel anchors attach the legs to the table top you just made.
Mark the location of where you will affix the anchors before screwing them in.
When you are done attaching the legs turn the table over, making sure that it is sturdy and level. If it is not level check the length of the legs. One must be a little higher or lower than the others. When you find out which leg is off adjust it with a plane until it even.
Now that your table is finish you can customize it the way you want, paint it, varnish it, or decorate it to your pleasure.
