Funky Leather and Zebra Shag Area Rugs

The different types of leather available today are vast and include: Aniline, Bicast, Boiled, Bonded, Buckskin, Braintanned, Chamois, Cordovan, Corinthian, Morocco, Nappa, Nubuck, Ostrich, Patent, Rawhide, Shagreen, Suede.  Everyone is familiar with the typical uses of leather. We see them used in our everyday lives. Whether is be for shoes, pens, bags, briefcases, watch bands, portfolios, picture holders, or anything else, leather is a fashionable way to express one-self.
Well, I’m here to share with you something so trendy, contemporary, and “in” that your socks will just be blown right off.

Leather shag rugs first came into my life after a friend came over and took a look at my closet. He opened the door, and just gasped. Honestly, I thought his jaw might just drop to the ground. You see, I’ve been collecting leather items, mostly large bags, and old-worn out items, for several years. I needed the space for some other things, and asked my friend to help me move them out.

My friend quickly came back to life, and started to share with me his recent travels throughout the world. While on his travels, he learned how to make leather shag rugs, among other things. He figured with all the different types of leathers, and colors that we could try to do it ourselves.
I have to tell you, I was intrigued to hear what could be done with my ‘junk’. So we started a small project. Turning some of my old leather bags into rugs. An experience that I would never forget.

Although I never really succeeded at making any exotic zebra shag area rugs (as I had originally planned), I was hooked on these interesting items. Now as I pass through the aisles of the local furniture store, I have started to notice all sorts of different types of shag rugs. Apart from my failed attempt to make some leather shag rugs, I noticed an assortment of colors, shapes, sizes, patterns, and designs.

Now my large house has several different types of these rugs, hanging on my walls, on the floor in my bathroom, in the living room, anywhere I could put one, I did. I hope to share my love of these lively leather rugs with everyone, and I want to see one in your house soon!
