Searching For Sterling Silver Turquoise Rings
Searching for sterling silver turquoise rings had occupied much of their time after the frightening event at the ‘Cochon Rose.’
After their trip to the Village, Flora and Bernice spent several days recovering from the ordeal. They asked their friend Artemise to meet them at the ‘Pink Tulip’ for tea and cakes. They wanted to tell her about their experiences. Artemise had lived a very worldly life. They felt she would love to hear their tale, and she would not be judgmental like some of the ladies in the church quilting group. Who should begin the story?
Bernice called Flora and said she would pick her up at three thirty. When Bernice drove up in her shiny blue Edsel, Flora was waiting out in front. She had a new stylish, curly haircut and she was wearing her favorite color, purple. She wore purple pumps and had a long purple feather boa slung around her shoulders. She was wearing her turquoise ring, the same ring that had started the whole affair at the ’Cochon Rose.’
The ‘Pink Tulip’ was a small tea shop in the old-fashioned English tea room style: real embroidered linen napkins, sterling silver spoons, beautiful china cups. There were lace curtains at the front window and chairs were covered in burgundy velvet. Ladies always dressed their best when they came here. They often wore hats.
“There’s Artemise now at the door. Look at her gorgeous hat,” said Bernice.
“I say ‘Look at that handsome young man with her,’” said Flora. “Do you think it is her brother’s son?”
Bernice smiled as Artemise and ‘the man’ approached their table. She put out her hand to greet Artemise and she said, “Your hat is absolutely marvelous, a gorgeous color for you, burgundy velvet. And that long feather curling past your cheek to right under your chin is just the perfect touch. Where on earth did you find it?”
Artemise touched the velvet beret and ran her fingers along the length of the feather. She said, “It is gorgeous, isn’t it? I didn’t buy it. This is a gift from my fiancé. Ronald I’d like for you to meet two of my dearest friends, Bernice and Flora.”
Ronald said, “We were so glad to get your call today, Bernice. Artemise has told me so much about you and Flora. We just came back from a trip.” He reached out to take Bernice’s hand.
Flora said, “I love your gold turquoise ring.”
