4 Ways to Warm Up Your Bedroom for Winter
If you want to warm up your bedroom you can always turn the heating up but there are ways to make your room feel warmer without ever touching the heating controls. Much better help in reducing global warming!
1. Keep Out Cool Air
If you windows are at all drafty or you feel cool air through your door frames, it can reduce the temperature considerably. To cut down on drafts, add thick curtains and valances to your windows and fit draft stopper foam to windows and door frames. You can pick up draft stoppers of various types for very little at a discount warehouse and fit them easily yourself.
2. Use Warm Colors
If you paint your bedroom in warmer tones such as yellow, orange or red you will feel warmer than if you use cool colors such as blue or green. Of course this effect is only psychological but it does make a difference if you tend to feel chilly.
3. Cover Hard Floors
Carpet will always be warmer than hard flooring but if you prefer the look of hard wood or natural stone tiling add warmth with some soft fluffy floor rugs so your bed feet hit a warm surface first thing in the morning. And don’t forget to keep your slippers right beside the rug.
4. Dress Your Bed for Winter
Where you might use crisp pure white cottons and a comforter covered in pretty flowers for summer, use thicker fabrics and fun fur, cashmere or soft wool throws for winter to give your bed a warm cozy look and feel. Take the edge off a cold bed at night by warming it with an electric blanket or hot water bottle in a warm fur fabric or knitted cover. This allows you to keep the temperature in your bedroom cooler while still feeling warm at night.
